Brass Bee Door Knocker

Our hand cast brass door knockers are made by a traditional method in a small, family run Shropshire foundry. They are sand cast, a slow and labour intensive process, then assembled, finished and polished to a high finish leaving any natural flaws. Each piece will vary due to the nature of its manufacture and are left unlaquered to allow natural ageing.

The bee has been used to represent community, brightness, productivity, power and fertility amongst other things by cultures throughout history. Napoleon Bonaparte and the City of Manchester both use it as a motif to symbolise industry or hard work.
