Knocker, Doctors in Brass

A wonderful brass door knocker and a great asset to any home. We have references to this knocker going back to at least 1832 in a brass founder's catalogue of that year. So far, however, we have not discovered why this has always been known as a Doctors Knocker but it has been suggested that patients could leave a written note under the knocker if the doctor was out. We take that with a pinch of salt.
