A minimalist wall light inspired by a design from the 1880s, this fixture is based on a model originally supplied by Simplex and expertly assembled using British and European-made components. The solid brass frame is available in finishes such as polished, acid-dipped antiqued, or nickel-plated. The clear bell glass shade adds a touch of elegance, providing a clean and focused light that complements the fixture's classic design. As with all our products, every component is fully recyclable, ensuring a sustainable and eco-friendly lighting solution.
The swan neck wall light is a very simple, unadorned traditional design that has served as a candle sconce in the 18th century, transitioned through gas lights of the 19th century, and evolved into electric wall lights throughout the 20th century and into the 21st. It is understated in its simplicity and elegance, whether used as shown in our photographs or, if preferred, as a functional uplighter. Its components are crafted with care in Birmingham or Northern Ireland, preserving a long tradition of quality craftsmanship.
The glass shades add character to the light and the room. All are classic designs from history. Simple bell shades, reminiscent of the early days of candle lighting, contribute to the fixture’s timeless charm. Other shades reflect the aesthetic of the early-to-mid 20th century, with prismatic designs once used in gas lamps by companies like Holophane, which became widely popular between the wars. All the glass shades are made in Britain, ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Choose whether to mount the lamp in a traditional way on an oak backplate (or pateras) that you can wax and polish or paint as you wish, or mount the light without for a slightly more modern touch.
We recommend the use of modern LED bulbs and, if used, there is no restriction on its power. If old, filament (incandescent) bulbs are used then a maximum of 40w is recommended.
